Voluptaris

Voluptaris started as a graphite and water-soluble graphite drawing over a simple compositional layout. I allowed the piece to evolve over several days, introducing more forms and values along the way. This was also my first time integrating white watersoluble graphite into the piece. The Strathmore 500 series paper held the water and texture very well. I had no problems with warping or surface crumbling.

The finished piece was spraymounted on to thin particle board that was then glued to several additional layers of board cut on a bandsaw. The final piece was then painted black along the exposed surfaces and edges and given a hanging wire via two screws in the back. The finished work was exhibited in the Cosmos show at Syzygy SF this year.
